Good Morning, Afternoon or Evening!
It’s Mr. Matt here and since we last talked I’ve done a few more things around the house! I’ve made homemade bread, mowed and got the garage weight room up and running, hung some things in the living room, painted some baseboards… (they are the white wood at the bottom of the wall) and watched a TON of this show Kirk has started to love called Shawn the Sheep. If you haven’t watched it yet, it is delightful… but it is mainly for little ones but… I might have watched a few episodes without him hahaha.
Just wanted to tell you a few stories and what the Lord has been reminding me of! I will also be uploading a small video later today when Kirk goes down over James.
So! Last week a guy called me and we caught up and decided to read through the book of James together and read a book called Life Together by a young man who lived during World War 2 in Germany named Dietrich Bonhoeffer (it is a very intellectual read and y’all should read it one day… but if you tried now I think your minds in some way would be scrambled. He writes on a high level…). What was neat about this call was that we prayed for one another, caught up with how we were doing, and decided to text back and forth and read the Bible together too. I hope that you guys are doing the same thing with one another too!
In other news, I know I’ve told you guys a bunch of times… but the one thing that the Lord has really shown me in staying home and taking care of Kirk is that, when many of life’s distractions are gone and I’m left with just myself… that i remember how impossible it is for me to be perfect without sinning. I realize how… needy I am of the Lord Jesus and his mercy and patience and righteousness because without Him, I am just a angry, spoiled, rude, impatient, unrighteous young man. Every day it’s that tug a war game between struggling in doing the right thing or choosing to do the wrong thing. The encouragement I leave with you guys who are also understanding this more and more… remember that Jesus at the end of Matthew tells his 12 disciples, something really interesting (his best friends who left and abandoned him when he was being put to death, who denied him multiple times, who ran away and began to doubt everything that He taught them…who even didn’t believe the women who told them Jesus was alive again… these guys). The Bible states that, “ the Jesus came near and said to them, ‘Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to one serve everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” (Matthew 28:18-20).
The 12 disciples did some pretty awful things to Jesus on the way to the cross, and I bet that made Jesus incredibly sad and disheartened. But, instead of yelling at them, or making them feel worse about it, or not forgiving them, Jesus comes back and comes near to them and reminds them of what he taught them, tells them to go teach others, and tells them that He would never leave them, not even at the very end of the world and this age.
And if Jesus did this to these guys, he will without a doubt speak like this to you as well. So remember what you have learned, call and talk and teach other people around you through words and actions, know that Jesus is always trying to be close to you, and that he will never ever ever ever leave you.
Hang in there and know that I am praying for you all and that I love you guys! Kirk and Chewbacca say hello and my little girl will be here in 5 weeks!!!
Stay safe and healthy!
Mr. Matt
